The Merrick Art Gallery Presents:

The American Civil War!

Civil War Enthusiasts!

On March 4, 2012, please join us at The Merrick Art Gallery in New Brighton, PA, for "The Merrick Art Gallery Presents: The American Civil War!" This events commemorates the celebration of 150 years since the beginning of the American Civil War in 1861. The opening reception is from 1 pm to 4 pm and the exhibit will continue through March 18, 2012. Refreshments will be served at the opening reception. Merrick’s hours are: Tuesday through Saturday, 10 am to 4:30 pm; Sunday, 1 pm to 4 pm. 

Eight high school artists from different schools in Beaver County have created visual art pieces as their interpretations of the American Civil War, with one student performing a theatrical skit. Two scholarships will be awarded. The Student Art Award for $500 will be divided between a first, second, and third prize within the visual arts. The Theodore C. Merrick Award, for $100 will be awarded to a student outside of the visual arts.

Civil War re-enactors from the 63rd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, Company C will be in full dress with a combination of different uniforms and ranks represented. In addition, Paul Olszanski of Beaver, will be displaying his Civil War dioramas.
