Legacies: The Merrick Masters Art Exhibition
The Merrick Art Gallery proudly presents Legacies: The Merrick Masters Art Exhibition. The exhibition will take place from Friday, May 16 through Sunday, July 6, 2014. The exhibition will open with a VIP Preview Reception on Friday, May 16, 2014, from 5 pm to 8 pm. The cost of the VIP Preview Reception is $15 per person. A general public opening will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 1 pm to 4 pm.
Legacies is defined as “something that is handed down or remains from a previous generation or time.” The Merrick is situated in the midst of what is often referred to as the “tri-state” area of Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, “a stone's throw” from the Beaver River, the first major tributary of the Ohio past its beginnings at Pittsburgh's iconic “Point.” This area, once the western frontier in the early days of our nation, has been one of confluences, interconnections and conflations ever since.
The juror was Carol R. Brode, Assistant Professor of Art at Seton Hill University and Director of Harlan Gallery, Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
